Interview in Nottingham University

Hmm... Before the JPA results are out, I received an email saying that I was shortlisted for the Star Education Fund and had an opportunity to go interview in Nottingham University, Semenyih. At first, I was in dilemma. Accept? Don't accept? As the course offered is Computer Science. Frankly speaking, I was not quite familiar with this course. At last, I accept it as I would like to gain more experience.

In fact, the interview session was held on 11 May, crashing with the Matriculation and Form 6 intake. When I knew that I failed to secure JPA scholarship, The Star Education Fund had become my last and the only hope......

The interview session starting from 9.30am, while I am suppose to go interview on 9.45am. We can easily see fountain, trees, buildings and for sure, the campus is big and the environment is good for studying. First, I went to the administration office to grab some booklets.

Waiting, waiting and waiting......

Finally, we were asked to go for the interview in the other building. One thing made me shocked-- there were only three person going for interview!!!!!!But I think others might come after some time. Three of us are coming from different places--Kedah, Penang, and Kuala Lumpur.

When I stepped into the interview room, Wow! You guess how many interviewer? 1? 2? 3?
No! Is around 5!!! I was given three minutes to introduce myself briefly. After that, one of the interviewer was asking for my parents payslip after looking at my certificates. Luckily I brought it. Then, the other interviewer was asking me questions that really 'high standard'.

For example,

'How much you know about computer science?'

'Can you tell me more about University of Nottingham?'
I had no idea to answer these types of questions although I prepared for it before.

Then, the toughest question was thrown towards me.

'Now, lets say you were offered for JPA overseas scholarship and the Star Education Fund. Which scholarship will you choose?'

What? Sure Star education fund lah! All of us know that if a person failed to secure JPA scholarship, the chances to secure it after appealing is almost ZERO!!!

'Frankly speaking, which scholarship will you choose?'

'Star Education Fund.'

'I want your real answer. Let say JPA offers you the courses you like and the country you would like to go. Which one will you choose? I know that you really like actuarial science. Then which scholarship? '

I was trying to tell him that the chance was very slim, and I might not be offered to a University that I like, as there is limitation on choosing the University.

At last, I surrender...

'JPA loh.....'

Athough I knew this answer might make me fail to get STAR Education Fund, but I had no choice......

After that, I was asked for the reasons for not taking part in Computer Club of any other clubs related to computer science, but taking part in Biotechnology Club.

Oh no!!!!

'Actually I prefer maths than Biology...'

'What? then you can become a vice president??Wah!!'

Finally, I was asked to tell them the reasons I deserved for the Star Education Fund.

In fact, I was not so confident to secure this scholarship, but I had gain the experience. I believe that the more experience I gained, the better I can perform.
